Tears of fire.
by Rabbit
A troublesome imp, abandoned by greater demons in their vicious crusades.
Lost, alone, angry and destructive. I see in the dark with tears of fire.
Until she scooped me up in her arms.
Reeling, I hissed, burned her and thrust my fork into her heart.
But she would not yield.
A kiss upon my forehead, and the fire flickers.
Another kiss, and another. Endless kisses. Cold, sweet, moist.
My throat’s closing and it’s hard to breathe; the fire outside is dying.
I struggle, but she does not yield.
Exhausted, I cry water.
She touches my cheek and wipes away the moisture. Warmth. The fire’s not gone, it’s inside.
Her journeys take her away from me, but she’s reassured me she’ll come back.
Just like the first time. To scoop me up. Along that lonely, abandoned road.
My fire’s inside but the tears are outside.
I’m in the very room where she set me free, but I’ve got tunnel vision and can’t reach far enough to touch anything.
The water won’t stop. The fire’s getting wet.
A key turns the lock guarding my heart. She slows the water and fans the flames.
Darkness drapes her body. Fingers become eyes as they guide me across her infinite landscape.
I’ve got horns and she’s got wings. What a perfect pair.
